Job Overview
This position is responsible for repairs and facility preventative maintenance. The core position performs a variety of maintenance duties including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and grounds keeping, and any related tasks as directed by the Program Director, Associate Program Director, or administrative team.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Performs minor fixes, repairs, preventative maintenance and renovations. Areas of responsibility include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC
- Maintains grounds, including mowing and yard upkeep
- Clears snow from parking lots, entrances and walkways
- Conducts and documents routine inspections of premises and equipment
- Performs preventative maintenance
- Handles basic repairs, maintenance and renovations. Areas of responsibility include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC
- Oversees contractors when necessary
- The ability to safely operate light to moderate machinery without supervision
- Diagnoses mechanical issues and corrects them
- Repairs machines, equipment, and structures as necessary
- Picks up and delivers supplies and materials as needed
- Adheres to all relevant policies and procedures of the organization.
- Performs and documents scheduled inspections of the entire facility
- Reports to program and associate program director, and/or administrative office regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university. At a minimum, one year of experience must be working in the social services field in a relevant position; Work experience may be substituted for academic studies exchanging one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five years
- Must have the ability to work with individuals with criminal, asocial, and addictive personality types
- Must be knowledgeable of community resources, develop an understanding of the local employment market, and develop knowledge of available education, training, and vocational resources
- Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, with the ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work with computers and the applicable software typically used by the facility
Certifications and Licenses
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate liability insurance. Positions in this classification may be required to travel and work at multiple sites on a regular basis
- First Aid / CPR / AED certification, issued by an authorized agency, completed within probationary period and maintained throughout employment
