Job Overview
This position is responsible for developing and coordinating employment, programming, and treatment assistance for clients. The position’s core focus is defining needs and assisting clients in the reentry process.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Completes needs assessments in areas of substance abuse, mental health, and other needs.
- Assists with the development and implementation of individualized program plans.
- Provides employment orientation for all new residents and assesses their employment needs.
- Assists residents in obtaining necessary documents.
- Contacts prospective employers and employment services (often off-site) to describe our program objectives and solicit cooperation in providing job opportunities.
- Develops and maintains a job bank, referral sources for vocational training classes, updated employment opportunities, and resources available to clients.
- Meets with clients to establish a job search plan and job seeking strategy that is both viable and realistic.
- Conducts group meetings with unemployed clients.
- Develops and maintains working relationships with the community program administrators who can provide assistance with on-the-job training, education, and other resources.
- Verifies schedules to ensure that clients are meeting program goals and contract requirements.
- Verifies employment, programming, and school attendance.
- Makes entries in clients’ files regarding employment, programming, and school status.
- Organizes and completes client orientation and continuing life skills education classes
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university. At a minimum, one year of experience must be working in the social services field in a relevant position; Work experience may be substituted for academic studies exchanging one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five years
- Must have the ability to work with individuals with criminal, asocial, and addictive personality types
- Must be knowledgeable of community resources, develop an understanding of the local employment market, and develop knowledge of available education, training, and vocational resources
- Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, with the ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work with computers and the applicable software typically used by the facility
Certifications and Licenses
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate liability insurance. Positions in this classification may be required to travel and work at multiple sites on a regular basis
- First Aid / CPR / AED certification, issued by an authorized agency, completed within probationary period and maintained throughout employment
