Michael has lived in this area since 1990, but was originally from St. Louis County where he graduated Hazelwood East High School. He received his Associate in Science (Criminal Justice) degree from Mineral Area College in December 1992. Michael attended St. Charles Police Academy and Mineral Area College Law Enforcement Academy and obtained his Police Office Standards and Training certification. He worked for the Flat River Police Department as well as the Park Hills Police Department as a reserve officer and later, a full-time officer from 1993 until 1998. In August 1998, Michael joined the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer at Potosi Correctional Center. He was promoted to a classification role in 2008. He transferred to Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center in August 2016 as a Case Manager. In April 2025, Michael retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections. He has two adult daughters and one grandson.
